Traditionally, the rule has been that a wrestler who didn't wrestle in a Regional can wrestle at States, but only in the Slate class. For those not familiar with the format, the Slate class state tournament is run along with the rest of States, but it's comprised of wreslters who finished in the bottom half of the brackets at the two Regionals. (The top half finishers are in the Granite class.)
I have no idea if that's the rule this year. The person to contact is Rick Ross at the Manchester YMCA. And George Havener of Goffstown is hosting States.
I think I have heard of situations years ago where a kid who missed Regionals was allowed to wreslte in Granite, but (1) all coaches in the tourney were required to agree to it (because it's a team scoring event), and (2) it was only in "fringe" (extremely light or extremely heavy) brackets that had very few kids to begin with.
And for the record, I don't speak for the NHYWCA board, so nothing I say carries any weight.
